winter mix

We got some lovely winter mix style weather last week.  Not really snow mind you.  It snowed for all of about 10 minutes then varying kinds of ice fell from the sky for hours.  School closed early on Friday and we huddled in the house with the heat turned up hoping the power stayed on.  Thankfully it did and by Saturday morning we were ready to venture out and see if it was playable weather or not.  Turns out it was.

That said it was slippery.

I turns out you can in fact sled on frozen grass.

swimmer of the month

He was also the December Dolphin Swimmer of the Month.

first IM

Elijah swam his first 100m IM at the Jan swim meet.  He was nervous bc he had to do all 4 strokes including butterfly.

He did well and did not get DQed.

Emily's first swim meet

Yes you read that correctly I said Emily's first swim meet.  Her coach felt that she was ready to compete in the 8 and under polar bear meet this past weekend.  She did very well considering that she is a young 5 year old who really didn't know what was going on.  She did back stroke for her free style heat which as it turns out is fine except that it slowed her down in comparison to the other kids in her heat.  For her back stroke heat she started when they were all just supposed to jump in but they just let her swim her 25 yards and then her coach told her she had won her heat and scooped her up out of the pool.
