No Painting

Wednesday afternoon I had the audacity to tell the children we wouldn't be painting pumpkins due to the fact that we didn't have time and Elijah had an entire day off of school on Friday. The kiddies were not pleased with my decision to just play outside bc it was a beautiful day. They decided to paint the slide with leaves and water. Don't worry the pumpkins were painted Friday then again Saturday due to the fact that their parents were too tired to put them up last night and all the paint washed off in the rain. I will post pictures of the Friday painting session when they are up. No photos were taken of the Saturday session though it turns out painting is at the moment a good way to keep the kids involved and reasonably quiet though Emily needs more paint every 2 seconds so it is not an activity that allows for Mommy to do something else.

Its my happybirthdayparty

Emily's Birthday party was this weekend. It was supposed to be at the park but alas it rained on and off all afternoon so we had it at our house instead. The experience with Emily has been different from Elijah at this age bc many of our friends have kids about her age though most of them are not in these pictures. Her friends Maeve, Alex, Grady, and Hanna came. All of whom are also children of our friends so great for us bc we got to hang with Kirk, Erin, Chrissie, Andy, and Wendy. We all had a great time and by the end of the party we were talking to Kirk and Erin, their daughter Maeve was hugging on Elijah, and Emily was wandering the house dragging bunny by the ear sucking her thumb saying "its my happybirthdayparty". Then she disappeared up to her room where she laid down on the floor and started going night night.

tappie shoes

She is not old enough for tap yet but she loves watching the big girls tap so Ms. April found some little tap shoes in the give away bin for her. Elijah wants some too but I think we will be waiting till this summer on him as he is old enough for classes but they have already started for the fall. In the interim I am going to try to get him to a performance that includes my friend Victoria's son Evan as I would like for him to see a boy he knows dancing.

Turtles and Snales

Forgive the crappy pictures it was just not a good day for picture taking. That said Emily has been really into turtles lately so she totally flipped out over the turtle fabric when she saw it at my happy place (better know as Elegant Stitches). I picked the snails to cordinate with it for the blouse which is a little big bc I made the back placket too narrow but hopefully that means it will fit for a while. The pants were lots of fun to make. She is just big enough for some of the bigger kid patterns that have more detail so these have little pin tucks and pockets. She is also all about pockets these days.

cupcakes

These are some felt cup cakes that I made Emily for her Birthday. The were an experience and I like the way they turned out but they were also far more tedious then I really enjoy. I plan on making more play food for Christmas though bc she really enjoys it. I also think if I make more for other kids I will only be doing the pink and purple style and the white style. They are my favorites. Oh and I'm getting a thimble next time I go to jo anns bc these really did get blood sweat and tears.

As promised pictures

Some sewing plus some pretty decent pictures of the kids I've taken recently. I've got some other projects I'm finishing up and haven't been putting as much focus on sewing lately but I'm sure there will be more to see soon. I also haven't been taking pictures of the boring stuff.

Jeans

I successfully bought new jeans today. I know your thinking what a great accomplishment for you but hey I had to take Emily with me and only realized after I got to the mall that I was without the stroller. Thanks Dear! I'll point out that this was also necessary bc all of my current jeans fall down not so much that they can't be worn but so much that they look pretty bad after a few hours and I spend more then half the day pulling my pants up. Um I have better things to do with my time. So anyways I don't plan on buying lots of new pairs as I'd still like to drop another size but I feel like everyone should always have one pair of jeans that they think they look great in which I did not have. When I reach my goal size I will be going to Nordstrom for some real designer jeans but that is not the goal today. Plus I have to drop another size before that is really an option anyways. Angela you can come for that trip since you're very good at convincing me to go ahead and buy things. Today I went to the Gap which did not go well as the size 14 long and leans were loose in some funny places and I didn't want to try another fit. Then to American Eagle where thankfully the nice little sales girl saw me walk in with Emily on one hip and stand in front of the jeans wall. At this point she took it upon herself to tell me the perfect ones for me were the Artest fit as they have a no gap waste which her manager who has a toddler likes bc she bends over a lot. Well whatever she sent me to the dressing room with regular and ripped artest jeans and I went with the ripped. They look like great old jeans that I've had for a while and I'm hoping they will be too big by the end of winter. Blah blah balh congrats if you hung on this long. I'll post some pictures of the kids tomorrow but today I'm excited about my new smaller jeans.
